Pilates: Not Just For Her

Published on March 17, 2010 with No Comments

Many of us think Pilates is just for the ladies however recent research shows us that it can improve abdominal endurance, hamstring flexibility, and upper-body muscular endurance. That’s right upper body muscular endurance! This study was published this March in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning. Subjects showed improvements in only 12 weeks however did not show improvements in balance and posture. I would suggest attending a class and start to implement some of your favorite moves into your routine. Pilates can even be done at home behind closed doors if you don’t want your friends to see you doing mat exercises while they power clean. Make sure to hire a professional or attend a class to ensure you have proper alignment to get the most gains from your Pilates.
