It seems that for many of us, we have two types of bodies – our winter body, which usually can be defined as a little less toned and lean than our summer body or our bikini body! And getting the “bikini body” usually starts around the beginning of the year. This is when we start realizing that summer is coming in a few months and that, yet again, we have managed to let our “winter body” creep up on us, hence the ever popular New Year’s Eve resolution “losing weight and getting fit – again”.
How do you get the “bikini body?” back?
It is time to do a reality check and take a hard look at your current fitness level. Have you seriously slacked off your workouts? Are you taking the stairs or the elevators at work? Do you find excuses to skip your yoga or pilates class? What about your food? Have your portions gradually increased? Are you visiting those Golden Arches more and more often? Do you snack more than you use to while watching TV?
Unfortunately, all these little “sidesteps” can add up and they usually do = increase in your weight and fat! This is making you a very sedentary and inactive person.
If you want to get that bikini body back, you will have to recommit to a healthy eating plan and fitness program. Its time to dust off your gym bag or your workout dvds and start moving again. Unfortunately, there is no easy and quick fix to getting that dream body.
Nothing jumpstarts a fitness route better than recommitting to very specific goals while setting up weekly mini goals that will give you encouragement and will also let you monitor your ongoing successes. It has been proven that the best success stories are directly tied in to having realistic and tangible weight loss and fitness goals.
Notice that we are using the word “realistic”. While it would be great to say “I want to lose 10 pounds this week”, by setting these types of “intentions”, you are simply setting yourself up for disappointment! You need to be honest with yourself and your capabilities.
Getting that bikini body is a very real possibility, but as with everything when it comes to fitness and health, the slow but sure route is the best idea.
